                                      June  2008

Father's day is quickly approaching!  It is time to heat up the BBQ, invite all the dads you
know, and of course their families, and you ladies are supposed to do the cooking!!  I
have no idea how to use a BBQ so when we have a BBQ for father's day I'm afraid Gary
will still have to do the cooking!

Then of course, we also have to go shop for that very special card that tells him how
much we love him.  My sister, Deborah, wrote a very special poem about father many
years ago and I don't think she will mind if I share it with you.

You just love me because

This certifies
with all of my heart
that as my father
You've well played your part

Throughout my hardships
you always are there
when I need you to listen
or just say you care

No one can love me
like my father does
you don't need a reason
you just love me because

Deb

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!

                                    Mission Trips in the Future!
My sister Deborah and her grand daughter, Chelsea, are going on
a mission trip that will be a first for both of them.  They will be
traveling from Chelsea's home in South Carolina with a group of
youth (and adults, of course) to a location within the United States.
I think it is great to hear of mission trips that serve our own
country.

Keep listening for a write up about their trip!!

If you are planning a mission trip we would love to hear about it!
Don’t just go to Church-Be the church!

Gary and I recently attended a Senior Retreat at Cazadero Baptist Camp.  What a wonderful week,
spent among the California Redwoods and quite a few of God’s people!  The speakers were all
excellent, sharing the bible and many good ideas about how to be a better Christian and how to
show the world the love of Jesus.

One of the men’s subject was-Don’t just go to church-Be the church.  What a concept!  We each tend
to think of the building where we go to worship as being “The Church”.  Or  “My church”.  Yes, we are
sometimes a little possessive about our church right down to the pew we choose to sit in each
Sunday.  Most of us have a specific pew or chair that we consider our own and if someone beats us
to it before the service we are a bit confused as to which direction to take to find another seat.

The CHURCH is ALL OF GOD’s people, who attend ALL THOSE CHURCH BUILDINGS, that teach
the bible.  We all make up the church.  We all need to be reaching out to share God’s love to all who
are in need.

It may be a neighbor who is ill and needs help to just get through the next few days until they are
better; a homeless person who needs something to eat, some warm clothing or someone to hold
them and pray for their future; a child in some far away country who needs monthly support to have a
roof over head and food to eat; or perhaps a friend or stranger who needs prayer for a miracle in their
life.

When I was doing research for my first two books, which are compilations of personal testimonies, I
was in awe of the many times God answered prayer to perform a miracle.

One such story had to do with a mother receiving devastating results from an ultra sound of her soon
to be born baby.  Ref: Water to Wine, 2 Fish to a Feast by Betty Overstreet

The door opened, and a doctor came in, wearing a gray lab coat and carrying a thick medical
textbook.  I saw from his name tag that he was a high-risk pregnancy specialist.  My husband
jumped up from the wheeled stool where he had been sitting as we waited for the results of our Level
2 prenatal ultrasound. I sat frozen, staring at the doctor’s sober face.
The doctor opened the textbook and placed it on the table in front of me.  He didn’t waste words.  “We
have reason to believe that your child has Fryns Syndrome,” he said, pointing to a picture on the
page.
Blood thudded in my head as the doctor continued.  He compared signs of Fryns Syndrome with
what he had just seen on our baby’s ultrasound: hole in the diaphragm over the lungs, cysts on the
kidneys, a malformed head—the list went on and on.
“Even the ears look like they’re set abnormally low on the head, reaching almost to the shoulders,
which is typical of Fryns babies.”

Lisa was fortunate to have many friends who began to pray, one in particular--, Her Bible Study
leader.  She prayed endlessly for a miracle!  Due to her friend having such a strong faith, Lisa also
began to pray for a miracle. At the time baby Michael was born, the only problem he had was the hole
in the diaphragm over the lungs, which could easily be repaired.  Praise the Lord!

Lisa’s friend reached out, she prayed for a miracle when Lisa was too distraught to believe in her
own faith at the time. She reached out as we Christians must do in times of need.  We must allow
Jesus to use our hands, feet and love to show His own Love to others who are in need.  We must
unite with other Christians of all faiths, in prayer, and we will see miracles happen.  Nothing is
stronger than a plea coming to God from all his people, from all the Church buildings across the
world, asking for His miracles to be given to those in need.  United, we stand together, for God!
If you do not have a church family to worship with, please begin to search for the church that God has
been leading you to.

A note to writers or those who would like to try their hand at writing for God.

I have discovered an excellent website,
www.Faithwriters.com, that helps us hone
our skills.  Every week they have The Writers Challenge.  They give us a subject,
usually just one word, and we are to write something about that subject.  It can be
a story, article, poem or what ever comes to your mind.  I am really enjoying it.

A King...That Sounds Good To Me!
                                                 by
                           Kimbali Brandon Allen

I am so excited about a new author that I met last
November while flying to Florida for my friend Anna's
wedding.  The Flight Attendant and I began talking and
she told me she was ready to publish her first book, a
child's picture book!

I asked her to keep me informed and when it was
available, I ordered it.  I am really impressed with her
creativity, and highly recommend this book for you
children, grandchildren and any other child on your gift
list.  The illustrations are by Bryan M. Wilson and it is a
job well done!

My sister, Ines, picked it up while she was visiting
recently and came back in the room after reading it with
a look of awe on her face.  She felt it was the best book
she had seen to teach children how to live for Christ.

Check it out at
Kim's webpage  or contact the author at :
thekingswaybooks@hotmail.com and tell her I told you
about the book.

These Gals are definitely "about our Fathers
business!!  Working hard within their churches
or in other ministries.
